My dad took a ride with me this morning over to East Greenwich to pick up my new (to me) 97 Land Cruiser. Here’s some better pictures than what I had posted before:
The exterior is really clean and 99.9% rust free. I’m trying to decide if the color is silver or if there’s some beige to it...sometimes it looks beige, but it would appear the color combination is just straight up silver over gray
I’d give the interior about a 7.5/10, upgrading to an 8 once it’s cleaned up. The carpeting is nice, the seats are worn in and there’s a rip in the front passenger seat. Almost everything works, too. Plus, that sunroof is YUGE.
I did have to order a few things for inside, however. Neither of the front seats slide back, so I ordered the parts to fix those. I also can see the driver’s seat won’t move back far enough for me to be comfortable, so I ordered seat rail extenders. Lastly, there aren’t any cup holders, so I ordered a 3D printed one.
Big six is big. That’s a 4.5 liter inline six, and while it doesn’t make a ton of power, what it does make it delivers like a sewing machine. Super smooth engine, quiet too.
So far, my first ever Toyota has made a pretty good impression. My dad loves it, I love it, my wife likes it but not so much that she wants to steal it instead of buy an Escalade next year. It needs a few things, but all in all I’m extremely happy for $3400.

Thanks! I figured out pretty quick that I did well on the price...the seller showed me all the other emails he got about it, but I got there first, haha.

Thanks. It’s even got the factory front and rear lockers, which I in no way need but still wanted.

The only thing better than the vehicle itself is that price. Holy shit.

Nice! Yeah, I’d want those too.

I had only been looking for one for a few days when I found it, but even I knew that was a great price if it was just pretty solid. In New England they all tend to turn into dust, so finding a rust free one up here is a great find.

Ok, man. Don’t rub it in. Some of us suck at car shopping! (me)

Congrats! I’m jealous.

I subscribe to the Wayne Gretzky approach to car shopping: you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. I buy so many damn cars that I’m bound to pick a winner every once in a while. Admittedly, this is one of my better ones.

Yeah, that’s the kind of price you don’t f$&@ around with. You just break out the cash.

I had my LX450 for many years, I dearly miss it to this day. Other than fuel economy. I loved that starting the big I6 would gently rock the car longitudinally.

I’ve heard fuel economy isn’t their strong suit, but I’m coming from a diesel Ford F-250, so it’s a lateral move for me in that way. I almost went for an LX450, but then the LC showed up right next door. I really dig it.
